An unforgettable evening unfolded in Cowbridge on October 17 as a quintet of Wales rugby legends came together with over 70 guests to raise an impressive £7,250 for the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity.
The event, organised by Hospital Innovations, was a night to remember. The charismatic Sir Gareth Edwards was at the centre of attention, consistently lauded as one of the greatest rugby players of all time.
Taking place at The Bear Hotel, the event was made special by the appearance of both Sir Gareth Edwards and the popular Wales internationals Nicky Robinson, Richie Rees, Ellis Jenkins and Josh Navidi, who added their star quality to the occasion.
Hospital Innovations, a leading supplier of human tissue and surgical equipment based in Talbot Green, orchestrated this event with a noble cause in mind. All the proceeds from the evening went directly to the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity, an organisation established by the rugby icon himself. The charity’s mission is to provide much-needed support to young people aged 15-35 in Wales who are battling cancer and struggling with financial burdens.
Hospital Innovations, known for its strong ties to the rugby community, also celebrated the presence of former Rugby Union players Nick Macleod, David Seymour, and Duane Goodfield, who have all become an integral part of the company’s sales and marketing functions in recent years.
The charity dinner was part of Hospital Innovations’ ongoing commitment to raise £15,000 for its chosen charities, a celebration of the company’s 15th anniversary. This event followed a successful team fundraising walk in July for the blood cancer charity DKMS, where the participants rallied to raise over £1,500.
Reflecting on the remarkable success of the charity dinner, Phil Davies, Chairman of Hospital Innovations, said “I am profoundly grateful to Sir Gareth Edwards, Nicky, Richie, Ellis and Josh, and our generous attendees who made this evening possible. Together, we raised a fantastic sum for a very worthwhile cause.”
